Classes We Offer
Classical Ballet
Ballet is still the foundation of all western Dance. It teaches a strong sense of posture and elegance. Ballet is taught from a young age using imagery and props, progressing to more technical skills, instilling confidence and accomplishment. At Devizes School of Dance Ballet is taught to children ages 2.5 upwards.
Tap Dance
Tap is an extremely rhythmical genre , seen often on stage in musicals. Tap dancing is characterized by the use of metal taps on the ball and heel of the shoe. These are used to make fun and ultimately difficult rhythms, which enable students to feel a real sense of achievement. At Devizes School of Dance Tap classes are offered joint with Modern Jazz lessons to children aged 5 upwards.
Modern Jazz
Exploring several different styles of dance (contemporary, lyrical, jazz, musical theatre etc.) ISTD modern is ideal for building confidence, improving fitness and co-ordination and gaining as love for dance/ theatre. At Devizes School of Dance Modern classes are run joint with Tap dance and are available to dancers ages 5 upwards.
AcroDance
AcroDance is a more recent addition to the dance world. It is a beautiful fusion of classic dance techniques and gymnastics skills. We work on strength, flexibility and stamina, through meticulous progressions to blends musicality and expression with athleticism. Devizes School of Dance offers Acro lessons to all children aged 5 upwards.

Meet our teachers
Sarah Challice
Principal Dance Teacher
Sarah Challice trained at The Classical Ballet Centre, Swindon Dance, Arts Educational School and London College of Dance. She is trained in Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre, Jazz, Tap, National Dance, AcroDance and PBT(Progressing Ballet technique). Sarah has taught in Devizes since 1994 and has been principal since 1998.
Chloe Curtin
AcroDance Teacher
Miss Chloe has been dancing since the age f 2, taking exams in Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Tap. She has assisted with classes from a very young age and, in 2020, became a qualified AcroDance teacher. Highlights of her time as a 'DSD' pupil include playing the Mad Hatter in 'Alice!' and dancing on our team at Disneyland Paris. Chloe still enjoys performing and can be seen performing with Devizes musical theatre annually.
Hannah Carroll
AcroDance Teacher
Miss Hannah started dancing aged 2. She came to Devizes and joined 'Devizes School of Dance' at age 5. Here she took amny exams in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz before becoming a qualified AcroDance teacher in 2020. This was made easier by her extensive gymnastics background.
